How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World

It is official!!!! Jonah has passed the test and now is one of my pie bakers for the pie sale. For those who do not know, we have had a pie sale for the past 5 yrs ( I think) in memory of our first daughter, Alayna Marie. The proceeds go to meet the needs of orphans in some way and last year we started making a donation to to Smile Train & Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. I am very excited  because this year we will be help meet the needs of some of the children I met in Africa. We are still trying to figure out what that will be.We usually sell at least 100 pies. So , I am so excited to have a new baker. :0)
We are reading a book called  How to Make an Apple Pie and see the world by Marjorie Priceman for school..What a silly adventure this girl has in order to get ingredients for an apple pie due to the market being closed. Jonah had to do some traveling and have an adventure too. Let's just say for this pie ,you will get nothing but the best. He got the wheat from Italy, he flew a cow back from England for the milk, and got the cinnamon from a kirundu tree in Sri Lanka, just to name a few.

I have to say, and not because I am his mother, that his pie was wonderful!! Never have I tasted a flakier, yummier crust. His Papa said he would bid $20 for this pie. I don't usually auction any off but if you are interested in bidding on Jonah's pie leave a comment. :0)
